ECCLESHALL COMMUNITY CENTRE

SHAWS LANE, ECCLESHALL

Eccleshall Community Centre, the former Middle School, was purchased by Eccleshall Parish Council in 1993 for community use. The Centre is leased long term to the Eccleshall Community Centre Association for day to day management.

The excellent facilities include several rooms suitable for meetings and various activities,  There is a well equipped, recently refurbished kitchen and a large hall with stage for dances, parties and drama productions.

Eccleshall pre-school occupies part of the premises and the Day Centre meets three days a week.

The Community Centre Association consists of a group of volunteers and representatives from various user groups, who ensure that the centre runs smoothly. At the Annual General Meeting held on May 19th 2009 the following Officers were elected - Mr. Gordon Dale  Chairman, Mr. George Simkin - Vice-Chair, Mrs. Sheena Simkin - Treasurer and Mrs. Christine Heelis - Secretary.

The Chairman reported that bookings remained excellent.

The boiler room had been pumped out following flooding. A new State of the Art heating control system and new valves had been installed. Repairs had been undertaken to the cooker and 4 stars awarded following an inspection by the Environmental Health. Stage lights had been repositioned and new lights fitted in the corridor. Two loads of scrapings were delivered and used to fill holes on the outer car park. The Day Centre had acquired new furniture and had a new bath fitted. Hand Rails were fitted to the steps by the stage, the curtain tracks were being replaced and a projector screen had been purchased for the Jubilee Room

Work outstanding included problems with the floor in the main hall, redecoration of the main hall / annexe, chimney stack, replacement of boiler room door and investigation into a leak in the boiler room.
